July 2008 Mini Vacation--Day 1

Our family vacation week kicked off with a visit to the Extreem Home Makeover site in rural Richland Center. The boys were excited to think they might see Ty (Jonah and Luke even made some signs) but alas, no design team crew was spotted on our watch. It was still a neat experience. I think that for homeschooling boys, the school bus ride was just about as exciting as seeing the house and all the work going on. We had to park our van at the Richand Center High School and be shuttled to the job site.It was pretty amazing to see how organized everything was.

From Richland Center we headed to the Prairie du Chien area and into Iowa to visit Spooke Cave. The boys loved it because we had to tour the cave in a boat and duck our head some of time so we wouldn't bump our head on the top of the cave opening. My favorite part of the day was the view from Pike Peak State Park which overlooked the Mississippi Valley. The picture don't do justice the the beauty. Myfirst thought when I arrived at the overlook and saw the valley below was how could anyone doubt there is a God.
